Rejection Is Redirection: How I Found My Way to MESHKI
Rejection Is Redirection: How I Found My Way to MESHKI

If there’s one piece of advice I can give about pursuing a dream, it's this:
Don't let the first 'no' make you walk away.
When I first heard about MESHKI’s Internship Program, something inside me lit up. I honestly didn’t think I stood a chance. I have admired the brand so much that even applying felt intimidating. For days, I just let it sit there staring at the listing, overthinking it, unsure if I should even apply. Eventually, I built up the courage to submit my application for the Digital Marketing role.
I didn’t get it.
It was disheartening at first. Rejection always stings, especially when it’s something you truly care about, but I knew I had the drive and capability to contribute to a brand I admired. This belief was my motivation to keep trying.
The Power of the Second Chance
Not long after, I came across a post stating that MESHKI was still looking for a PR Intern and encouraged anyone interested to reach out. It felt like my second chance, I couldn’t pass up.
Without hesitation, I sent a message along with my resume and portfolio. To my surprise and absolute joy, I got a reply. Even that small interaction meant so much to me;
it was a reminder that persistence pays off. Soon after, I received a task to complete for the application process, and I knew this was my moment to lock in and give it everything I had.
Shortly after,I was invited to interview. I spent hours researching the brand, preparing answers, and truly visualising my dream becoming reality.
And then… I got it!
I still remember the exact moment I read the email. It was surreal to think that the brand I had admired from afar would now be a place where I could learn, grow, and contribute.
First day Highlights
One of the favourite moments of my internship was my very first day. I had the amazing opportunity to assist at a PR event in Sydney for the launch of MESHKI’s new collection, The Architect.
Alongside another intern, I helped with setup and coordination. It was such a hands-on experience! I learned so many new skills from visual merchandising to something as simple (yet new to me!) as steaming garments. That day was fun, eye-opening, and. gave me a deeper appreciation for the amazing work that goes on behind the scenes.
To top it off, I got dressed in MESHKI for the event. Walking into the event in that dress made me feel like I was truly part of the MESHKI world.
It was unforgettable.
A Defining Moment
Most importantly, this internship has given me confidence in my ability to contribute meaningfully to a brand I admire. Being trusted with real responsibilities and seeing my work make an impact reminded me why I chose to study business and pursue a career in marketing/PR.
Interning at MESHKI has been more than just gaining experience; it’s been a defining moment in the start of my career.
Rejection isn’t the end.
Sometimes, the door you’re meant to walk through is just around the corner.
